Talking menopause with Charlotta
Menopause is not a one-size-fits-all journey. For some, it’s the most challenging time in life, while others breeze through it quite easily. Charlotta is one of the unfortunate women who has suffered from multiple symptoms and can’t wait to be on the other side of it.
Tell us about your menopause journey.
I realised I was in perimenopause about four years ago. But I would have recognised it much sooner and got the help I needed if I had known more about the different symptoms and stages of menopause.
What made you realise you were experiencing perimenopause?
It almost felt like I entered perimenopause overnight. From one day to the next, I began suffering from hot flushes and severe night sweats. I woke up several times each night and could barely function during that period. I’m one of the unfortunate women that have suffered from multiple symptoms; brain fog, a feeling of loss of self, anxiety, hair loss, itchy skin – and the list goes on.
What’s the best thing about menopause?
I have learned so much about how the female body works, how it’s affected by hormonal changes, and that I am one of many women going through this life stage. But in the end, I am sorry to say that the only positive for me is that I will soon be on the other side of it.
