Are the Female Engineering menopause clothing treated with anything?

Up until recently, we used an anti-bacterial and odour-preventing treatment in our menopause clothing called HeiQ Pure TAG, that contains the biocidal substance silver chloride. Biocidal substances are strictly regulated in EU law and the substances used are approved for use in textile products. This treatment has been one of the best available, but we have also been working together with industry leading partners on finding an alternative solution. From 2025, we have replaced this with a treatment called HEIQ Fresh MNT 01, that controls the development of odour in the garments and is free from biocidal substances.

All our menopause garments are certified by OEKO-TEX®, which means that the products have been evaluated for the content of substances harmful to health. Both the ones with the previous anti-odour treatment and the ones with the new odour control treatment, are equally safe to use.

Why do we use this treatment? 
We use this treatment in order to reduce the growth of bacteria and reduce odour from recurring hot flushes and sweat.
