Get to know the details and how they can give you the freedom to enjoy the water during your menstruation.
What is period swimwear?
Period swimwear is exactly what it sounds like – swimwear with period protection. They’re designed with built-in period protection and can be washed and reused. Our period swimwear for women and teens come with a medium absorbency level and can hold up to 2 tampons/pads. That makes them ideal as standalone protection for days with low to moderate flow, and perfect as backup protection on heavy flow days. They look and feel just like your regular swimwear so that you can swim comfortably without worry – the snug design will keep you secure both in and out of the water.
How do they work?
The bikini bottoms with built-in period protection are designed to absorb your menstruation while you are in the water. They work just like our period panties, with a built-in gusset with three active layers that will absorb your menstruation and prevent leaks. They’re made from a soft and stretchy polyamide blend and will keep you comfy at the beach or in the pool. A good thing to keep in mind, though, is that the gusset will absorb water as well. Therefore – after swimming, rinse the swimwear until the water runs clear and gently squeeze out excess water. Then wear it again and again.
When can you use swimwear with period protection?
Period swimwear are optimal for days with low to moderate flow but can also be used as backup on other days. They’re ideal for when you want reliable period protection without using tampons, pads, or menstrual cups. Simply a more comfortable option that lets you enjoy swimming without worrying about leaks.
A great complement to the swimwear is our on-the-go pouch. It’s made from a water repellent ripstop material and is great for storing worn or wet garments when you’re on the go. It’s also great to store your used period panties.
How do you wash period swimwear?
You can wash the period swimwear just like you wash your period panties. After swimming, rinse them in cold water until it runs clear and gently squeeze out excess water. Then just wash together with your other laundry at 40°C and hang it to dry inside out. Avoid fabric softener and the dryer, and you’re good to go.
